Behavioral Patterns- Passive vs Aggressive
As humans we go through a gamut of feelings and emotions and our reactions to situations vary depending upon various factors. But our reactions are not limited to one behavioral pattern. We can at times display passive acceptance of the situation or suddenly become agitated and aggressive or sometimes we may even think through our responses and can be firm, decisive yet not aggressive about it, in other words we can be assertive in our reactions.
No one can really be always associated with only one particular behavioral pattern, but usually people are labelled passive or aggressive largely based on their normal reactions or behavioral patterns.
Today let’s talk about Aggressive reactions.
People displaying aggressive behavioral traits usually put themselves ahead of others, it’s a “I win, You lose” attitude. They are arrogant, over-confident, over-competitive. They are usually controlling and demanding. They also tend to use sarcasm, insults, abusive language labels, put downs, and use hostile actions and statements. Such people tend to blame others and are generally intolerant of others’ opinions, neither are they open to criticism or feedback.
Their usual statements are-
“You better…”
“Shut up”
“Just do it.”
Take a true look at yourself, self-reflect, and ask yourself the question, ‘Am I also guilty of this behavior?’ Be honest with yourself…
